Skydance’s Star Wars game is a revival of Project Ragtag; set in Original Trilogy era

According to a new report from DualShockers, shared by AccountNGT, the recently announced Star Wars game from Skydance New Media overseen by Amy Hennig, is a revival of Hennig’s cancelled 2016 Star Wars game for Visceral Games, Project Ragtag and will be set during the Rebel Alliance and Imperial era.

The report doesn’t delve into too much detail regarding anything else surrounding the game, but does mention confusion surrounding who owned the rights to Hennig’s cancelled 2016 game for Electronic Arts, Project Ragtag, but believe the rights lie with Lucasfilm who’ve given the go-ahead on the project.

Project Ragtag was first shown to the general public in June 2016 with brief footage and concept art, but was ultimately cancelled in October 2017 after Electronic Arts saw an internal demo of the title and later shutdown the studio working on the project, Visceral Games, before getting EA Worldwide Studios to revamp the project without Hennig and to turn it from a linear story-heavy game into one with more variety and player agency, however this version of the title was also cancelled.

Ragtag was set to focus on a group of hap-hazardous individuals coming together to pull off a large scale heist set between the events of A New Hope, and The Empire Strikes Back, and was comparable to The Dirty Dozen and Where Eagles Dare. The gameplay would’ve seen the player able to switch between various characters in the group as the heist came together.

The untitled game from Skydance joins the ever growing list of Star Wars games in development including three vastly different games from Respawn Entertainment including a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, an open-world Ubisoft title, Knights of the Old Republic Remake, and Star Wars: Eclipse.
