Late last night, an Ahsoka TV spot appeared on NBC and sent online fans into a frenzy as the voice of Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker was heard and with new, never before heard, dialogue.

Low quality versions of the spot made their way online, with fans uploading the TV spot that they’d filmed on their phones across social media. Hours after the TV spot debuted on network television, Lucasfilm and Disney finally uploaded the TV spot, Force, online for all to see. Which you can see below.
The addition of Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker should come as no surprise given that it was reported by the Hollywood trades in 2021 and Ahsoka lead, Rosario Dawson, shared a post on her Instagram story of one of the reports. The Instagram story posted by Dawson said, “Skyguy…They know!!! See you soon, Snips.” The post made references to nicknames Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano made popular in the animated series, Star Wars: Clone Wars, but shortly after, Dawson was made to delete the story as it appeared to confirm the reports. Hayden Christensen himself was asked about reprising the role of Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka in May of last year, but remain tight tipped, though his face and reaction to the question might’ve given it away – don’t play poker, Hayden. Following reports from the trades, Dawson’s admission, and Christensen’s panic, details on how Christensen Skywalker would appear began making their way on the internet.
Towards the tail end of 2022, MakingStarWars reported that the Darth Vader team assembled for Obi-Wan Kenobi were returning for the Ahsoka series to shoot new Vader scenes. Details on what those Vader scenes were however were kept quiet, but one rumour pointed towards it being a live-action adaptation on the Vader and Ahsoka featured in season two of the animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, with the sequence appearing briefly in a vision, flashback or during scenes featuring the world between worlds.
However the biggest reveal regarding Christensen’s involvement was that during scenes where Ahsoka Tano in venturing through the world between worlds, she see’s an alternate reality where Tano confronts Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar. Tano, played by a younger actress and not Rosario Dawson, would fought Skywalker in these new scenes and Christensen spent a significant amount of time training for the sequence. The scene would be an alternate reality from the time of Revenge of the Sith, but it’s Tano who’s confronting Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, though MakingStarWars recently shared new details that mentioned a dead Kenobi being used for the scenes, but didn’t know if it would end up being cut. It’s possible there’s even more scenes featuring Christensen’s Skywalker, some maybe which feature Skywalker’s force ghost speaking with his former padawan. Maybe even Clone Wars flashbacks – which the TV spot seems to hint at. It’s simply exciting to know and have confirmation that Hayden Christensen will once again be reprising the role of Anakin Skywalker, and I for one cannot wait to see it on screen.
Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ with two episodes on August 23rd.
