Star Wars: Andor Season 2 has finished filming

It’s been a long road to get to this point, but the highly anticipated second and final season of the critically acclaimed Star Wars series, Andor, has finally wrapped filming.

The star of the Disney+ series, Diego Luna, took to Instagram earlier today and confirmed the news with the actor expressing his gratitude and thanks to those that he had worked with on the series. The news of filming concluding follows Diego Luna’s reveal last month, that the series was about to restart filming and that there was only a week left to shoot.

“Today is the last day of filming Andor. I could not be more thankful to the entire crew for this amazing experience and the years of hard work. More than 700 people worked on this production, and it is impossible to say goodbye and thank you to everyone individually, which is why I write here. THANK YOU for the love and the wonderful experience. See you soon.” – Diego Luna via Instagram

The second and final season of Andor began filming in November 2022, just as the first season finished airing on Disney+. The series spent a large amount of its time behind the walls of Pinewood Studios in London, but shot in several locations across the United Kingdom and even made its way to Valencia, Spain. However, production hit a roadblock in July when the SAG-AFTRA strike began, meaning most of the stars had to stop working on the production until the strike concluded, this included the series lead, Diego Luna, and supporting cast members such as Adria Arjona and more. The production limped on for around a week as the series filmed scenes that didn’t require the SAG-AFTRA actors, but the production ultimately stopped with a couple weeks left of filming. The SAG-AFTRA strike concluded in November and on January 16th, Luna confirmed that he was heading back to London that day ready for filming, and that Andor season two had only seven days left of filming.

The second season of Andor was originally due to release this year, more specifically around August, but as I reported exclusively in September of last year, the final season had unfortunately suffered a delay into early 2025. Since then, the series has not appeared on Disney’s calendar for projects releasing this year. However, Star Wars fan will get to see two live-action Star Wars series this year on Disney’s streaming service in the form of The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew.
