It’s been over two years since the release of the critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and we’re only a month away from seeing the sequel being unveiled to the public, but a new leak from a reputable insider has revealed the upcoming title will be exclusive to Sony and Microsoft’s latest consoles.
According to video game journalist and reliable insider, Jeff Grubb, the highly anticipated sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order will only be arriving on current console generation hardware – PlayStation 5 and XBox Series X/S along with PC. This means that the title will not be released on last gen hardware.
I expect some fans to be pretty disappointed and upset with this news considering how difficult it is to get ahold of a PlayStation 5 or a Series X, but personally I think it might be better for the quality of the game as it won’t be held back by the constraints of last generation hardware, and I’m pretty sure fans wouldn’t want a Cyberpunk 2077 sort of issue on their hands. The next expected Star Wars video game to release following the Fallen Order sequel is the Knights of the Old Republic Remake which is rumoured to release in late 2023, and that too will be exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation 5.
Elsewhere in the video, Grubb reiterates that he believes the sequel will be shown at Star Wars Celebration, which is what I reported back in January and have heard consistently ever since. However at this time a panel for Fallen Order or for any video game has not officially been announced for the upcoming event.
