A fix has been discovered for one issue that’s part of Star Wars Jedi Survivor’s unacceptable performance problems nearly 3 years on from its release. Even though the game has stopped receiving updates from developer Respawn, this has not stopped fans from attempting to stomp out remaining issues.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor is both considered one of the best Star Wars games of all time and one of the worst performant games ever made. The game’s technical issues are still present every time you play the game even though it was patched around ten times.
This has caused the game to be one of the lowest rated Star Wars games on Steam and earn itself a badge of “Do not play” from many people no matter how good the gameplay and story might be. It’s well known by the gaming community that this game is plagued.
This may go onto harm Star Wars Jedi 3‘s initial launch as fans will be skeptical until the game is in the hands of the masses for real reviews. Thankfully, one of the most prominent issues in the second Jedi game can now be improved for some people.
The Problem
Let’s start with some context for those unfamiliar. Every time you play Jedi Survivor on PC you will suffer at the hands of improper camera and character animation. Essentially, the camera’s distance will change and make the game both look and feel irregular.
Some people’s eyes notice it more than others but the fact is the issue is present for everyone. This form of stutter occurs even if the game is running at a locked 60FPS. It has puzzled fans for a few years now and Respawn have never acknowledged it.
A Solution

PC gaming expert Alex Battaglia of Digital Foundry has uncovered a way to help squash a lot of this specific problem for people on certain setups. After doing some digging using a third party tool named the Universal Unreal Engine Unlocker, Battaglia was about to find console commands created by Respawn. One of them is called respawn.interpolated_rendering.
Following extensive testing, Battaglia was able to prove enabling this setting drastically reduced the amount of randomised distance the camera moves. Plus, it even increased FPS by up to 20% in demanding regions such as Rambler’s Reach on Koboh. The frames per second increase varies depending on your CPU. There are diminishing returns the more powerful your CPU is.
Unfortunately, it is no silver bullet. Using this setting will increase latency though your mileage will vary depending on your PC’s specs. It is still worth a try if you play Jedi Survivor on PC to see if you prefer the setting on or off.
