The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake is still being actively worked on according to an executive at the game’s publisher. This small update will at least end speculation that the game is cancelled. This has become a yearly tradition at this point.
As we know, Saber Interactive took over the project from the Embracer Group a few years ago. Saber’s Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits told IGN in a new interview that the KOTOR Remake is still very much alive. He specifically told the publication that “Yes, it is still in development. That’s all I can say.”
It is almost a year to the day that Willits said something similar. He Tweeted that “Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share.”
On the same day, it was published by GameFile that Saber’s CEO told the outlet production is ongoing. Plus, they want to allow Disney to take the lead on marketing this project.

Given Mad Head Games are busy with Hellraiser: Revival this year, we should not expect to see the KOTOR remake for some time. Later this year, it will have been 5 years since the remake was announced during a Sony PlayStation Showcase. The lack of transparency around this project has been quite farcical. Still, there is hope one day fans will see a remade KOTOR for modern standards.
Back in December, GameFile also spotted court documents that confirmed the existence, or at the very least plans, for a KOTOR II Remake. It is “still technically on the roadmap” according to Lucasfilm Games’ General Manager and VP Douglas Reilly.
