Post Launch Success
Before we take a look at the Game Pass data in particular, it’s important to understand the Journey that Outlaws has been on.
Despite opening with soft sales in the summer of 2024, Star Wars Outlaws has gained lots of momentum at various points throughout the past 18 months. This started with the developers providing lots of free content and quality of life updates alongside story expansions. These were all met with praise by the game’s community.
Following those content drops, the game come to the Nintendo Switch 2 last Autumn. It was a magnificent port met with high-scoring reviews making this version of the game one of the best reviewed Star Wars games of all time. It is still continuing to impress gamers with how well the game looks and performs despite it’s humongous scope on a low-powered handheld device. Nintendo even made a real life advert for it and have been using the game as one of the few 3rd party titles in a billboard and poster advertising campaign.

It was a little bit of a phenomenon within the Switch community. Outlaws maintained position as one of the most purchased digital and physical Switch 2 games. These new players could not understand why so many Star Wars fans hated this game.
As Nintendo gamers sunk lots of time into the game, their love for it began to spread far wider. This led to a surge in copies being sold on home consoles and PC when the game was discounted last Christmas. For example, the game experienced joint peak concurrent player counts well over a year after the game launched on Steam (which was already the smallest pool of players as it launched months later on Steam).
