We’re just a few weeks away from the debut of Skeleton Crew, the latest live-action Star Wars series, arriving on Disney+. Today, thanks to an official press release, we now know what directors, and boy it is a great line up of filmmakers, directed which episode of the series.
Before we continue with the article, I’d just like to share that you can now find Bespin Bulletin on Blue Sky. Also, if you’re a fan of Bespin Bulletin and would like to support the website, you can do show by tipping via Ko-Fi or my becoming a Patreon member. Any support would be greatly appreciated. The site has not been doing well, I haven’t been paid for most of the year, and Patreon numbers have been dwindling. So if you feel like helping me and the site out, that would be greatly appreciated. Anyway, on with the news!
Jon Watts
Jon Watts, the director of the Tom Holland led Spider-Man trilogy for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios is a co-creator of Skeleton Crew alongside Christopher Ford, who was on writing duties for the first two Holland Spider-Man flicks, Homecoming and Far From Home. Watts’ past work also includes the recently released George Clooney and Brad Pitt led Wolfs and Cop Car. Jon Watts directed two episodes of Skeleton Crew, episode one and episode eight, the first and last episodes of the season.
David Lowery
David Lowery is probably best known for his A24 flicks The Green Knight starring Dev Patel and A Ghost Story starring Casey Affleck. Lowery has also previously worked with Disney on Pete’s Dragon and last years Disney+ movie, Peter Pan and Wendy. David Lowery, like Jon Watts, directed two episodes of Skeleton Crew, episode two and episode three.
The Daniels
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, better known as the directing duo The Daniels are undoubtedly best known for their Oscar award winning film, Everything Everywhere All At Once, have directed a single episode of Skeleton Crew. The duo’s past work includes the Daniel Ratcliffe led Swiss Amry Man, which starred fellow Star Wars alum Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Hera Syndula in Ahsoka. The Daniels have television experience under their belts also, having directed episodes of Legion and Awkwafina is Nora from Queens. The Daniels directed episode four of Skeleton Crew.

Jake Schreier
Jake Schreier is probably one of the names going under the radar when it comes to Skeleton Crew directors, you’ll see and hear people rave about having high profile talents such as Watts, The Daniels and Lowery onboard, as well as an experienced Star Wars TV director in Bryce Dallas Howard, but Schreier is one I’m personally excited for. Schreier’s film work isn’t that extensive or acclaimed, his two best known feature film efforts being Paper Towns starring Cara Delevingne and Robot & Frank, but it’s Schreier’s TV work that excites me. Schreier directed on one of my favourite comedy series in recent years, Dave, which stars Lil’ Dicky and aired on FX. He also worked on the criminally underrated FX series, The Premise, which was created by BJ Novak, and directed one of the most acclaimed episodes, as well as Jim Carey’s Kidding. However, Schreier’s likely best known for directing six episodes of the critically acclaimed Netflix hit, Beef. Jake Schreier directed one episode of Skeleton Crew, episode five.
Bryce Dallas Howard
I’m sure that everybody reading this knows exactly who Bryce Dallas Howard is. Yes, she’s a star of the Jurassic World trilogy, but she’s also directed multiple episodes of Star Wars television. Howard directed the fourth episode of The Mandalorian season one, Sanctuary, the chapter that introduced viewers to Cara Dune. Episode three of season two, The Heiress, which introduced Katee Sackhoff’s Bo Katan Kryze in Star Wars live-action. And episode six of season three, Guns for Hire…yes, the one that featured Jack Black and Lizzo. But the episode that Star Wars fans will likely best remember Howard’s work is from The Book of Boba Fett, episode five – Return of the Mandalorian, which is one of the highest rated live-action Star Wars TV episodes of all time. Bryce Dallas Howard directed episode six of Skeleton Crew.
Lee Isaac Chung
Last on our directors list we have Lee Isaac Chung. Chung, just like Howard, The Daniels and Schreier only directed one episode of Skeleton Crew, episode seven. Chung’s past work includes the critically acclaimed, Minari and one of the biggest hits domestically this year, Twisters, starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew debuts on Disney+ with two episodes on December 3rd.
