Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi spin-off series, Tales of the Empire announced alongside a trailer, releasing May 4th

Okay guys, get ready, it’s time for the line….a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

(I hope you all cheered and applauded after reading that line).

Out of nowhere, Lucasfilm and Disney+ debuted a trailer for a previously unannounced animated TV series, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. The spin-off of the acclaimed Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi series is to release on, drumroll please, May 4th. The trailer will excite many fans due to the appearance of some characters fans have been asking questions about for quite some time and some fan favourite characters making an appearance.

The trailer seems to imply that the series will mostly follow the story of Morgan Elsbeth and how she came to align herself with the Empire, and more specifically, Grand Admiral Thrawn, something fans have been itching to know more of. However, Elsbeth’s story ventures down the path that will re-introduce fans to a much talked about character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Barris Offee.

Personally I’m so happy that Barris is making an appearance within this series, not because I’m a huge fan of the character (the character’s cool), but that it’ll stop the incessant theories every few years that a mysterious masked character is Barris Offee, and fake leaks that Offee will appear in x series. Learning that Barris likely becomes an Inquisitor and fans following the character down the path is surely something many of us are looking forward to seeing, I know I am, especially given how often the theory that Barris became an Inquisitor gets touted.

As the trailer carries on we see various glimpses of Elsbeth’s descent into darkness and Barris Offee training to become an Inquisitor. However, we get to see glimpses of returning fan-favourite characters such as the Grand Inquisitor along with a handful of other Inquisitors, Darth Vader (of course), and General Grevious, who’s not back from the dead and healthily living a life during the time of the Emprie, but leads a droid army during the Clone Wars to destroy the homeland of Elsbeth, which ultimately sends her down a dark path.

Tales of the Empire is a six episode series. All six episodes will release on Disney+ May 4th, 2024.
