Lucasfilm has announced a brand new Star Wars animated series coming to Disney+. In a surprise reveal ahead of Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, we have a trailer along with details. Titled Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, it is the third addition to the Tales shorts series following Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire.
Tales of the Underworld features 6 episodes focused on Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. We pick off on Ventress’ story after her Bad Batch Season 3 appearance. A new, young blue lightsaber-wielding Jedi comes across her path in her episodes. There’s even a peek at a new inquisitor.
Meanwhile Cad Bane stares down his former best friend turned marshall and we see yet another epic blaster standoff. Could this bridge some of the gap in Bane’s story before the Book of Boba Fett?
The trailer showcases plenty of action for the two fan favourite characters and is accompanied by a poster. In the poster we see another character from The Clone Wars, Latts Razzi, a Theelin bounty hunter.
Actors lending their voice talent in this series are Nika Futterman as Asajj Ventress and Corey Burton as Cad Bane who return in their iconic roles. Additional voice actors include Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez.
According to StarWars.com, Lucasfilm’s Dave Filoni created the series and is the supervising director and a executive producer. Meanwhile Matt Michnovetz is writing the series with Athena Yvette Portillo, Carrie Beck, Josh Rimes and Alex Spotswood producing.
Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld comes to Disney+ on May 4th, Star Wars day.
