Sometime this month filming on the highly anticipated Star Wars series, The Acolyte, created by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is due to begin filming at Shinfield Studios, Berkshire and over the course of the past month or so we’ve seen the development of an outdoor set for the series being constructed behind the studio, and today brings us an update on the progression of the aforementioned set.
As you can see from the images, we’re now able to get a sense of the what the set is going to become. To me it appears to be a small town or village of some kind and reminds me of a much smaller scale version of the Ferrix set built for Andor at Little Marlow back in late 2020. Significant progress on the set has been made since images were first posted of the set back in August, and I’m hopeful we’ll continue to get images of the set as it evolves.
The Acolyte is slated to film from October into May of next year, with a 2024 release expected for the series. Over the past couple of months Lucasfilm have been assembling a very talented cast for the series, led by Amandla Stenberg (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies). As of now the confirmed cast members for the High Republic era series includes the Emmy award winning, Lee Jaung-Jae (Squid Game) in the male lead role, Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim).
The Acolyte won’t be the only Star Wars project filming in the United Kingdom this Autumn as the second season of Andor begins production at Pinewood Studios this November with filming due to run until August, and a release expected in the latter half of 2024. Across the pond filming continues on Skeleton Crew and Ahsoka, both looking to wrap before the years end. At this time it’s very difficult to get any set pictures from Ahsoka as you can see from the image below, but recently we did release a video of a stunt being filmed for Skeleton Crew which you see here.
