According to the latest issue of Star Wars Insider, season two of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is slated to release sometime this Spring.
The Spring release is quite interesting given just how stacked the Disney+ slate is with Moon Knight kicking off on March 30th, and expected to wrap up on May 4th, which is the rumoured date that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will begin airing on the streamer, and there’s also rumours that Marvel Studios’ She-Hulk will begin airing sometime in May.
It’s unusual for Disney to overlap their tent-pole live action Star Wars and Marvel Studios projects, but Kenobi debuting on May the 4th alongside the final episode of Moon Knight makes sense and is a good marketing opportunity. The part I find strange is having She-Hulk debut in May as well as Kenobi. So throwing The Bad Batch into the mix seems like quite a bit, but my assumption is TBB will release in either April or June.
Spring begins March 20th, and ends on June 21st. If The Bad Batch is releasing in April, then we can expect a trailer sometime in February as Disney’s recent marketing strategy for their Marvel and Star Wars series have debuted trailers roughly two months ahead of release. Moon Knight releases in March and had a trailer release yesterday. The Book of Boba Fett debuted in very late December and had a trailer release at the start of November. Hawkeye’s trailer debuted in September ahead of the series release in November. Loki’s trailer released in April, and the series began airing in June. You get the point.
Spring could be an incredible season for Star Wars with the rumoured release of without question the most anticipated Lucasfilm series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, possibly the release of The Bad Batch season two, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga currently tracking for a Spring release, and Star Wars Celebration in May.
Personally I was not a fan of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. I enjoyed the first few episodes, and some towards the end, but overall I wasn’t entirely impressed by the series. However Clone Wars and Rebels both massively improved after their first seasons, and I adore both series, so I’m hoping the same will happen for The Bad Batch.
