Fans are still trying to organise and make Disney bring back The Hunt For Ben Solo into development. However, the film’s writer has made it clear there is no path forward.
In a new interview with The Playlist, Steven Soderbergh has shut down talk of a revival for The Hunt For Ben Solo movie. We last heard from Soderbergh about this Ben Solo film back in February. He called The Walt Disney Company’s then-leadership “insane” for shutting down the flick with a “great” script.
Since then, things have changed within the walls of Lucasfilm and Disney. Bob Iger has exited the company as CEO with Josh D’Amaro taking over. Plus Kathleen Kennedy (who was not pleased with the film being scrapped) has stepped down to make way for Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan at the top of Lucasfilm. This has led to fans speculating whether a revival could really happen under a new regime.
No Regrets
Soderbergh stated that he and Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) started talking around 3 years ago as of now. It began with Driver telling sharing his believe that “there’s still somewhere to go with this character (Ben Solo)”.
Despite its cancellation and him working for free effectively for a couple of years alongside Driver and Rebecca Blunt, the writer/director has no regrets. He explained in this interview that because he felt the work he did was good, “it’ll have a residual effect that will be unexpected at some point.”
“I don’t regret one minute of the time we spent working on that.”
Accepting It Is Over

Once Soderbergh knew that the project not going to make it onto the big screen, he quickly moved onto writing something new and not connected to Star Wars. He is now very busy with a number of other projects with no room for Star Wars: The Hunt For Ben Solo.
The creative added “Look, if it was gonna happen, it would have happened. It’s that simple.” Despite stunts to get Disney’s attention on social media, it has had no impact and The Hunt For Ben Solo will remain as alive as the titular character, dead.
