We are just a few days away from Star Wars The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s release and it’s the final call on box office predictions. There have been many different outlets giving their own projections for how well the first Star Wars film in almost 7 years will do and we’re now on the final stretch with numbers narrowed down thanks to presales.
Deadline are reporting that the film is tracking to achieve $80m or exceed that number during the course of the 4-day Memorial Day weekend. For comparison, Solo: A Star Wars Story did $103m domestically over the exact same weekend in 2018 and with lower ticket prices.
The outlet’s earlier tracking had it at around $80m last month. Therefore, after three additional weeks of presales, the tracking has not improved nor gotten worse. This is in spite of global marketing campaigns across TV, fast food, billboards, influencer activations and more. The Force is seems to not be as strong with the franchise as it once was.

We also have been given worldwide box office projections from Deadline. The outlet are tracking the film to make $160 million globally. Solo earned $52m internationally meaning The Mandalorian and Grogu is on target to beat that at least. The Mandalorian and Grogu did cost far less to make than the Lord/Miller/Howard flick. However, this is still not a great look for Disney if it ends up being in and around that film’s box office.
The Mandalorian and Grogu releases this Friday in cinemas and IMAX screens worldwide. Are you seeing it opening weekend? Let us know down in the comments section below.
Last week, it was reported the film was the number one piece of entertainment to excite consumers. Learn more here.
