Two weeks ago MakingStarWars shared images of a set being built in El Segundo and believed that it could be possibly be Nevarro. Today the Star Wars insider has returned to the location, snapped more images and has confirmed a return to Nevarro for Din Djarin and Din Grogu.
Taking to the Threads, MSW wrote, “I can confirm the planet Nevarro will return in The Mandalorian and Grogu. As you can see in the photos I took, the planets basalts is being constructed around architecture and there are piles to cover the ground. Note that the turret structure has been wrapped in black, covering it to keep it clean. But the basalt surrounds it.”

It’s certainly not a surprise that The Mandalorian and Grogu is returning to Nevarro, a planet that has shown up in all three seasons of The Mandalorian series. Personally I was hoping that we wouldn’t return to the planet and that we’d spend our time at new locations, but considering how the third season of The Mandalorian ended, it makes sense to feature Nevarro in the movie given its where Din Djarin and Din Grogu decided to settle down – it’s currently their homeworld.
Given the tragic passing of Greef Karga actor, Carl Weathers, earlier this year, it’ll be interesting to see just how they handle Weathers’ passing in the show. Nevarro and Karga are strongly linked, as Karga became the High Magistrate of the planet in later seasons of The Mandalorian. I wonder if Karga is mentioned, living his life off-screen in the flick, or if the Karga passed away off-screen.
On Monday, MakingStarWars shared that principal photography on The Mandalorian and Grogu would not begin for around another three weeks, but that time sensitive scenes, possibly due to cast members schedules, had been filmed in advance of principal photography. Earlier this week MakingStarWars and I speculated (that’s the key word) that perhaps those time sensitives scenes were possibly for a funeral scene for Karga as the former believed Nevarro was set to appear in the upcoming film. Maybe one of those casts members with a busy schedule was leading man Pedro Pascal. Typically you don’t need Pascal on set of The Mandalorian unless you’re having Din Djarin in scenes without his helmet and I think seeing Pascal’s face during a possible funeral scene would be quite emotionally impactful. Again, this is merely speculation.
Production on The Mandalorian and Grogu is fast approaching and I’m sure that over the weeks to come we’ll get more looks at the sets being constructed and information on the theatrical release.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is due to release in cinemas on May 22nd, 2026.
