Star Wars Zero Company is going to surprise a lot of people based on the new information that has just been revealed. The Respawn-co-produced game has been compared to a Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order spinoff. It should not come as much of a surprise given the Zero Company’s writer and other key developers were instrumental to both Jedi games.
In the latest PC Gamer magazine issue, the developers at Bit Reactor have shared how they have blended both the squad-based tactics genre with 3rd person action games. Of course, most of the game is still primarily tactics gameplay but this combination was actually an early consideration and focus.
When you are not in the taking on enemies, you’ll be able to take third-person, action-adventure control of Hawks, the playable protagonist. This can occur at The Den (your base of operations) on the Ring of Kafrene, when you’re on a mission or during side missions called Operations.
Non-Tactical Gameplay

In The Den, you can take part in a selection of gameplay experiences. This is where you will hire and customise new squad members. You’ll also be able to talk to them or other people involved with Zero Company. Plus, you’ll buy new items, upgrade etc here too.
Story missions will feature segments after you’ve fought to go 3rd person and walk around. Meanwhile Operations are more spy-level engagements. An example given by PC Gamer is you need to acquire intel at a cantina.
You’ll have multiple options of how you go about getting hold of the objective. Three options presented could be schmooze, bribe, or brawl. Each of these will give different outcomes: rewards and affecting your squadmates bond. Permadeath may even occur from a brawl!

PC Gamer likened this to an action spinoff of Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order just without the Lightsaber and Force powers. This opens up the ability for fans to take their time to explore everything in the beautiful locations. Plus, immerse themselves and learn so much more from the NPCs.
