Today the official Star Wars twitter account officially announced that production on the highly anticipated spin-off of The Mandalorian began filming today.
I’d been hearing May 9th for a couple of weeks from a singular source, but if you know me then you’d know I tend to not report unless I’ve got multiple sources corroborating the information. However I did mention it briefly on my podcast, BOB The Podcast, last week that I believed filming begins this week. The start of filming is slightly later than planned as Ahsoka was scheduled to begin filming in late April as I and The Hollywood Reporter both previously reported, but added at the time that it could slip into early May.
Ahsoka is currently filming at Manhattan Beach Studios and will also film at the train yard location in El Segundo at some point. It’s unknown if Ahsoka will use additional filming locations like The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Mandalorian season three, but it’s worth mentioning that the mysterious Grammar Rodeo project is set to begin filming next month at Manhattan Beach Studio with additional plans to film at Culver City and California State University.
I recently shared set photos from the upcoming Ahsoka series which you can see here that depicts ruins of a Jedi or Sith temple. I was told before taking the images that the set is large and is very reminiscent of ancient Roman ruins.
The image shared by the Star Wars social media accounts doesn’t offer much of a look at the series, but proudly displays the hat of Dave Filoni who is penning the series and is expected to direct at least a couple of episodes.
