In less than two months Star Wars Celebration Europe, which takes place at the ExCel Centre this April, kicks off but ahead of the event, Lucasfilm has shared some disappointing news for fans hoping to attended a Star Wars Celebration next year.
Buried within a blog post on StarWars.com titled, 5 Reasons to Go to Star Wars Celebration for the First Time, Lucasfilm revealed that following this years convention, the next Celebration will not take place until sometime in 2025. As expected there’s no additional details such as to when in 2025 the event will take place and where the event will be held – details that are usually released once Star Wars Celebration has concluded, but chances are it’s somewhere stateside once again.
Personally this news doesn’t impact me so you could call me bias, but I actually think waiting until 2025 is actually a pretty smart idea. It’s likely that this year at Celebration Lucasfilm will update fans on its two live-action series slated for release next year, The Acolyte and Andor season two, in addition to Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew, and will likely formally announce a film from Watchmen writer Damon Lindelof, which is expected to be released in December 2025. Skipping 2024, a year in which only two live-action projects are slated to release, and waiting until 2025, the year that Star Wars returns to the big screen, will only increase excitement and anticipation. At the point of Celebration 2025, all the shows we officially know of (barring Lando) would’ve been released and Lucasfilm will likely have an exciting slate of content to share which will be spearheaded by a trailer and details for the next Star Wars (assuming everything goes smoothly), and I’m sure this prospect is mouth watering for fans.
