What to expect from Fortnite’s Star Wars event on May 3rd 2024; Everything we know

We’re now mere days away from Fortnite’s hotly anticipated Star Wars event that begins on May 3rd in celebration of Star Wars Day (May 4th). There’s been various rumours, leaks and official announcements in regard to the event that begins on Friday, so let’s discuss what fans can expect as part of the upcoming epic Star Wars and Fortnite crossover.

    New Skins

Epic Games have only confirmed or commented on four brand new Star Wars skins that’ll be part of the upcoming event which begins on May 3rd. Those four skins are Chewbacca, The AWR Trooper (Death Trooper), Luke Skywalker in his Dagobah outfit and Lando Calrissian. Chewbacca was rumoured for a number of weeks after a Wookiee Bowcaster was discovered by data-miners in the Fortnite game files, though the skin can only be purchased if players upgrade the upcoming LEGO Fortnite battle pass, Rebel Adventure, to the premium version. The paid for version of Rebel Adventure will instantly grant players access to Chewbacca and his LEGO variant.

Unofficially, there seems to be at least NINE more skins coming to the Fortnite Item Shop on May 3rd S part of the Star Wars event. Around the time that the Chewbacca weapon was discovered in the video game files, data-miners also came across a new skin for Leia Organa dubbed Rebel. The data-miners and leakers did not share what that skin is, though they’ve often tweeted images of Leia’s Adventure outfit from Star Wars: Battlefront II and various Star Wars comic books. The Adventure outfit at this time seems like a valid option, though another could be Leia’s Hoth outfit from Empire Strikes Back. Leia Organa currently has skins in Fortnite taken from A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, so a skin from Empire seems plausible. Given that Luke Skywalker, who first launched with Leia in October 2022, is getting an Empire Strikes Back skin, it’s possible that the new Leia Organa skin is that inspired by her Hoth appearance from the film.

    Adventure Leia in Battlefront II

So what about the other eight? Those skins are reportedly C3PO, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Rebel Fleet Commander, X-Wing Pilot, Mon Calamari Rebel, Imperial Scout Trooper, Imperial Snow Trooper and Imperial Officer. LEGO variants of these C3PO, Rebel Fleet Trooper and Rebel Fleet Commander can be seen in the promotional image for the LEGO Fortnite Star Wars event, though Epic in press releases have not commented on whether or not these skins will be purchasable, though you’d assume it would be the case. The two Rebel skins mentioned along with Imperial Scout Troopers, Imperial Snow Troopers, Imperial Officers and a Mon Calamari Rebel can all be seen in the promotional video for LEGO Fortnite’s Star Wars event, though Epic hasn’t commented on if these characters would be purchasable in the item shop, you’d likely towards the possibly that they will be.

As it stands, fans can look forward to at least THIRTEEN brand new Star Wars skins coming to Fortnite on Friday. There’s always a chance that there will be more skins that we don’t know about at this time, but seven is a hefty amount. The skins will all likely arrive with LEGO variants.

The Battle Royale mode will be receiving Star Wars Quests on May 3rd and completing all of them will grant players access to a AWR Trooper Back Bling item.

Luke Skywalker (Dagobah) will cost 1500 vbucks, but can be purchased in a bundle alongside a Yoda backbling and Yoda’s walking stick pickaxe for 1800 vbucks. The Yoda Gear Bundle will be available for 1000 vbucks.

The Lando Calrissian and AWR Trooper (Death Trooper) will also both be available for 1500 vbucks. Lando will also have a bundle that comes with a Vibro Axe pickaxe for 1800 vbucks.

There will also be a dismembered C3PO backbling available for 800 vbucks and an AT-AT junior emote available for 500 vbucks.

    Jam Tracks

Fortnite launched two new rhythm modes in December, Fortnite Festival and the Fortnite Jam Stage. In these modes players hit a series of buttons as original and licensed music plays. Fortnite have added a plethora of purchasable songs in the Item Shop from current popular artists such as Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and Olivia Rodrigo to name a few, along with classic artists and bands such as Nirvana, Elton John, DMX and U2. Now, Fortnite looks to be adding another iconic artist to the list in form of acclaimed composer, John Williams, with his track ‘Cantina Band’ that featured in A New Hope. It’s unknown if ‘Cantina Band’ will be purchasable in the Fortnite Item Shop or if it’ll simply be part of the Fortnite Festival rotation during the Star Wars event.

In addition to Jam Tracks, players can also purchase two instruments for their characters in Fortnite Festival and Jam Stage, the Endorian Drum Kit and a Nalargon Keytar.

    LEGO Fortnite

The skins we mentioned earlier in the article will also receive LEGO variants to be playable in LEGO Fortnite and as we also mentioned, LEGO Fortnite will be receiving its first exclusive Battle Pass in the form of Rebel Adventure.

Rebel Adventure will feature two version, a free one and a paid for premium version – both will grant players rewards. The free reward track has ten Decor Bundles and the Mos Eisley Marketplace Build as the final reward. The Premium Reward Track will cost players 1,400 V-Bucks and has 11 more rewards, in addition to the free ones. Players will not need to complete extra quests to be rewarded with the premium track rewards – as long as the player has upgraded to the premium pass, they will only need to complete the free rewards quests and will be granted rewards from both the free and premium track. The premium track has four Decor Bundles and seven Builds, including the Dusty Durrr Burger Build as the final reward.

As mentioned earlier in the skin section of the article, players who are looking to purchase the Chewbacca skin will have to purchase the premium version of the LEGO Fortnite Battle Pass, Rebel Adventure, to gain access to the Wookiee. Chewbacca and his LEGO counterpart are exclusive to the LEGO Fortnite Battle Pass and can not be purchased separately in the Fortnite Item Shop. The LEGO Fortnite Battle Pass; Rebel Adventure, will cost 1,400 vBucks, which is around 100 less than what a skin typically costs. So if you’re eager to play as Chewbacca, it’s not a bad idea to purchase the battle pass and earn even more rewards in the LEGO Fortnite mode.

The LEGO Fortnite mode will also be receiving various Star Wars weapons and items such as lightsabers, thermal detonators, bowcasters, the dl-44, the e-11, macrobinoculars and Rebel workbenches.

The Star Wars event in LEGO Fortnite will see a band of Rebels land on a new island in the game mode after being pursued by the Empire that will crash onto the island. The Rebels will set up a village which players will help turn into a Rebel headquarters and you’ll be able to investigate the Imperial crash site.

    Rocket Racing

New Star Wars quests will begin on May 3rd in Fortnite’s Rocket Racing mode and a second additional set of Star Wars quests will begin on May 7th. Both sets of quests will be available for players until the 20th of May.

In addition the Star Wars quests, a separate quest line, May the 4th quests, will also begin on May 3rd. Completing 4 of the the May the 4th quests, which begin a day earlier than the name of the quest line, will grant players access to Anakin Skywalker’s Podracer Decal and completing eight will reward players with Darth Maul’s Decal.

The Fortnite Item shop will be selling a Star Wars inspired Rocket Racing bundle named, The Beskar Car Body. The bundle will feature, you guessed it, a car body made of Beskar, along with Din Djarin inspired Beskar wheels, The Armorer’s Beskar decal, Boba Fett’s Beskar Decal, Boba Fett inspired Beskar wheels, Bo-Katan Kryze’s inspired Beskar wheels and decal, and Sabine Wren inspired Beskar decal and wheels.

    Returning

In addition to all the new content we’ve mentioned, past weapons such as lightsabers, blasters and Force Powers will be returning in Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode. Only a select handful of past Star Wars skins will be returning to the Fortnite Itsm Shop on May 3rd and those are Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, Zorii Bliss, Sith Trooper, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Boba Fett and an Imperial Stormtrooper.
