A baseless rumour about the next Star Wars Jedi game went viral this week on social media. This has led to lots of people believing all what has been said about the game despite absolutely no validity to it.
This sort of thing has occurred multiple times with Star Wars Jedi 3 so we are going to be diving into the realistic possibility of when we will see a full reveal and release. This will also serve as a guide in case further rumours that lack credibility suggest the game is coming out soon.Â
So this is the latest story. Someone wrote on Reddit last week that their friend knows lots of information about a bunch of different games such as launch titles for the next Xbox and Jedi 3. They listed a bunch of story and gameplay information which isn’t really worth discussing considering we are looking to put down likelihood of this “leak”. I mean, they claim Cal “purifies” his blue Lightsaber to be white and will use a double lightsaber and blaster at the same time. In canon, a Lightsaber must be red for purification.
The main information mostly spread online is the release time frame and reveal date. The person who shared the information with the Redditor claims they are absolutely sure that the game will be revealed on May 4th this year. Be it in the form of a teaser, a tweet or a logo. The game is also slated to release between October and December 2026. The release time frame doesn’t really make any sense. Let’s take a look at why.
2026 Is Stacked
This year, three Star Wars games will be releasing. Zero Company, Galactic Racer, and Monopoly Heroes vs Villains with the latter coming out as early as June. The other two are proper AAA releases and one of them is even published by EA. The focus from the publisher will be on Zero Company especially given Respawn have been working on the game with Bit Reactor.
Lucasfilm nor EA would want to drown out one of their titles. Besides, GTA 6 is coming this November (at the time of writing) and virtually no game wants to release anywhere close to it. Even though the target audience for GTA and Star Wars are very different, Rockstar’s new game is going to be the biggest piece of entertainment of all time and will swallow up anything within its blast radius.Â

The Case For 27

It took Respawn three and a half years to make Jedi Survivor. If you applied three and a half years post-Survivor that would take us to late 2026 which is what the above rumour claimed. However, given that the game’s leadership exited development of this game just months in, over 100 other Respawn staff members were laid off plus the technical problems still present in Survivor, a longer development cycle in the 4-year range makes sense. That will take us into Spring 2027.
Next May, Star Wars Starfighter will grace the big screens. We’ve already got two candidates for the game launch near Ahsoka Season 2 this year so why not have Jedi 3 out around Starfighter next year? Star Wars Celebration will also be taking place next April.Â
EA have favoured shorter marketing cycles for all their games including the Star Wars titles over the past few years. It should also be noted that EA are currently going through an acquisition by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund. This deal is set to close within the next several weeks. Both dealing with such a gigantic transaction and the upcoming transition will likely have a little impact on projects such as this. EA will no longer be a publicly traded company meaning they won’t be beholden to quarterly reports and a large number of shareholders.
There is no Star Wars Celebration this year so an announcement at The Game Awards in December followed by a marketing blitz through a spring 2027 makes sense. Jedi Survivor did get its first gameplay reveal at The Game Awards so there is some precedent set for the Jedi games appearing at such a big event. May 4th is typically not a day used for big reveals like a new game.
This is just some of food for thought. There is always a possibility Lucasfilm actually surprises us for once and gives us something good on May 4th. Thankfully we are just a little over a month before we’ll find out if this rumour has credibility. Will be keeping a close eye and reporting on anything in relation to Star Wars Jedi 3 and the rest of the upcoming Star Wars gaming slate.Â
