Zynga Inc. have announced that the upcoming mobile and Nintendo Switch video game, Star Wars: Hunters has been delayed into Q4 2022.

Yesterday Zynga Inc. whilst reporting their Q2 2021 bookings, the company announced delays to a number of their upcoming video games including Star Wars: Hunters. Hunters was first announced back in February during a Nintendo Direct with a release year of 2021. Zynga has now delayed Hunters into Q4 2022 (October-December 2022) partially due to uncertainties around Apple.

Dean Takahashin of VentureBeat explained the situation, “Apple have been making a harder push towards user privacy over targeted advertising with its advertising with its change to the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), and that made it more cautious about its forecast for the upcoming quarter and the full year”.

Despite the Hunters delay into late 2022, the game will receive a limited soft launch in Q4 2021.

Not a whole lot is known about the upcoming title. Ahead of the delay, Hunters, was due to receive it’s limited soft launch this Summer ahead of it’s official release later this year. Hunters is being developed in Unreal Engine 4 and was set to feature micro-transactions, which is expected given the video game is free-to-play. The game will link your profile across platforms, meaning any progress you make on your Switch would automatically transfer over to your mobile device and vice versa. Zynga described the game as an online free-to-play squad based triple A competitive third person shooter. Despite details regarding the video game being cannon not being announced, Hunters is set after the events of the Skywalker Saga and would take place in arena’s in the Outer-Rim with all of the locations not being seen in previously released Star Wars material. Despite only being announced for mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch, job listings for Hunters suggested a release on Playstation 5 along with Xbox Series X and S.
