Today Kumail Nanjiani has shared some details regarding his character in Obi-Wan Kenobi, including his name. Very little has officially been shared pertaining to Nanjiani’s character, but his comments seem to line-up with recent leaks.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Eternals star revealed details of his mysterious character featured in Obi-Wan Kenobi, “His name is Haja, and he’s this guy who works on the streets of Daiyu” and went on to say, “He’s the guy who’s worked really hard to stay out of the bigger conflicts at play. He just kind of wants to be his own guy. Survival is a must for him. He’s this sort of con-man guy who cons people for money. That’s what’s important to him, then he has a run-in with Obi-Wan and suddenly he sort of gets stuck in the bigger conflicts at play, which is the thing he really tries to avoid. So he is this street level con-man guy who gets embroiled in stuff that’s way too big for him, and he has to make a choice.”

The rumours surrounding Haja is that he is a contact of Bail Organa’s on Daiyu, who meets with Kenobi and points him in him the direction of a spice-den where Leia Organa is being held captive. He’s operating on a street level at this point in the series, and as Kumail mentioned, Haja gets dragged into a larger conflict and has to make a choice. If the leaks surrounding the series is correct then Haja is forced to stand against the Empire, and by the end of the series, he’s handing out lightsabers and Kyber crystals to force sensitives at a battle on Jabiim against the Empire including the Inquisitors and Darth Vader.
