Hello there! Before we continue with the article, I kindly ask you to consider showing your support and appreciation for my work by tipping me via my Ko-Fi page here. Tips are quite rare around these parts, but I assure you no matter how big or small, each tip is deeply appreciated. Now, let’s get on with the news!

Earlier today Disney held their CCXP panel which featured contributions from a number of Disney’s studios including Lucasfilm. The biggest piece of Star Wars news to come out of the event was the release date of the highly anticipated third season of The Mandalorian, which will debut on Disney+ on March 1st. However Disney and Lucasfilm treated those in attendance to never before seen footage of the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian. The word being used in relation to what was shown is footage, but from what I can gather, the footage played like a trailer.

The footage begins with Din Djarin and Grogu venturing to Mandalore in an attempt to regain Din’s honour after he removed his helmet during the second season of The Mandalorian. Bo-Katan Kryze sits atop a throne of Mandalore angered and frustrated as she thinks of the Darksaber, which Djarin is the owner of. There’s glimpses of Greef Karga and Peli Motto, a scrapped Star Destroyer, as well as a planet that very much looks like Coruscant (though it could be Hosnian Prime or Mandalore) Several action scenes play out including Din Djarin running away from TIE Fighters. The footage ends with our beloved Grogu reaching out and using the force against a monster.

The appearance of Coruscant is a surprise (to be sure, but a welcome one) and I’m eager to see the footage myself to confirm if it is in fact the case, but the second piece of information that sticks out is Grogu using the force against some sort of monster. Earlier this year, MakingStarWars, reported that a Mythosaur would appear in the season, on Mandalore, and our heroes would have to fight the beast. I wonder if the footage of Grogu facing off against a ‘monster’ is actually our little green friend coming face-to-face with the Mythosaur.
