Over the past week we’ve had a bevy of images and videos taken from the City of Arts and science located in Valencia, Spain, where the second and final season of the critically acclaimed Star Wars series, Andor, has been filming. We’ve seen various scenes play out including a meeting between Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) and Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Riley), and Stormtroopers descending on a building in which our heroes are residing. However one character we’ve yet to see in Valencia is that of the titular character played by Diego Luna, that is until now.

In footage captured by Oscar Budding, we see Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor alongside Genevieve O’Riley’s Mon Mothma. The two have yet to share the screen on Andor, and this scene could showcase the first time they meet. Cassian seems to be desperately pleading with Mothma as they pace frantically, possibly keeping an eye out for Imperials. Cassian puts his arm in front of the senator as they see something ahead them and stop in their tracks. Cassian takes Mon Mothma by the hands and intensely converses with the Senator, perhaps trying to convince her to follow his lead and to see through whatever plan they have currently going on. The Senator seems to reluctantly agree as she and Cassian begin to sprint forward holding hands before cut is yelled and the scene comes to an end.

Previously we’ve mentioned that Robert Emms (Lonni Jung), Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård), Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Riley) and possibly Kleya Marki (Elizabeth Dulau) are filming scenes in Valencia, at the City of Arts and Science. All these characters are associated with Luthen Rael, who’s running various operations for the growing Rebellion with help and funding from Mon Mothma. As previously mentioned, Skarsgård and O’Riley were spotted filming a scene together at the same location, so you’d assume these events are all tied together. We know from set photos and videos that this location has Imperial presence, which has led some to speculate the location being Coruscant, with others believing it could be Mon Mothma’s home world of Chandirla.

Perhaps this scene showcases Mothma attempting to escape the Empire’s grasp with Cassian’s help. I can’t help but wonder if this scene follows Mon Mothma denouncing the Empire and resigning from the Senate which is spurred in canon when the Empire massacred peaceful protestors on the planet Ghorman. Shortly after this event, Mothma meets with the ghost crew as seen in the animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, so perhaps this scene takes briefly before that on screen event.

The second and final season of Andor is set to be released during the latter half of next year, and the series will also have a presence at this years Star Wars Celebration, which kicks off on April 7th.
