Deadline are exclusively reporting that actress Jodie Turner-Smith has been cast in the upcoming Star Wars live-action series for Disney+, The Acolyte, in an unknown role.

Turner-Smith is best known for starring in films such as Queen and Slim alongside Daniel Kaluuya (Nope, Black Panther), After Yang alongside Colin Farrell (The Batman, The Gentleman), and can next be seen alongside fellow Star Wars alum Adam Driver in Netflix’s White Noise which releases later this year. Turner-Smith has a hectic schedule with three additional projects lined-up post White Noise including Adam Sandler’s (Uncut Gems, Happy Gilmore) Murder Mystery 2, TV series Bad Monkey alongside Vince Vaughn (The Break-Up, Wedding Crashers) and The Independent starring Brian Cox (Succession, X-Men) and John Cena (F9: The Fast Saga, Bumblebee).

Jodie Turner-Smith is only the second cast member affiliated with The Acolyte, with actress Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies, Desr Evan Hansen) cast in the lead role. The series is created by Russian Doll co-creator, Leslye Headland, who will act as showrunner on the series, but it’s unknown if Headland will direct any episodes of the series set during the High Republic era. One name rumoured to be directing the series is Kate Herron who directed all six episodes of Loki season one, and has not returned for its second season which is currently in production in the United Kingdom.

Production on The Acolyte is set to begin in October at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire, with filming expected to run until May. Recently images were released showing a large set being constructed at the area with the belief being that the set shown is for The Acolyte.
