After reports initially surfacing in Italy, multiple outlets are now confirming the tragic news that Ray Stevenson, the actor set to play Baylan Skoll in the upcoming Ahsoka series, has sadly passed away at age fifty eight.

There’s sparse details regarding Steveson’s unexpected passing at this time, but the actor passed away Sunday night – just four days shy of his fifty ninth birthday. According to reports, Stevenson had been hospitalised on the island of Ischia while filming Frank Ciota’s Cassino on Ischia. The Irish born actor has spent decades in the film industry, starring in high profile feature films such as Punisher: War Zone, King Arthur, Thor: Ragnarok, The Other Guys, RRR, Divergent and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, along with successful television series including Dexter, Rome, Black Sails and Vikings.

The actor is very familiar to Star Wars fans as he previously voiced Gar Saxon in two Star Wars animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. Stevenson recently appeared at this years Star Wars Celebration which took place last month in London, England. Stevenson walked on stage during the Ahsoka panel to thunderous applause from fans in attendance after it was confirmed the actor was starring in the upcoming live-action series, Ahsoka. Stevenson’s antagonistic role as Baylan Skoll in the upcoming series has garnered much interest and celebration from fans following exciting scenes featuring the character shown in the Ahsoka teaser trailer.
