The outlet that first reported that an alternate reality duel between Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar was set to feature in the Ahsoka series is now reporting that the sequence has been cut.

Before we continue with news of the day, I’d just like to share that you can support my work in two ways for which I’d be extremely grateful. Firstly it’s via my newly created Patreon page which has a two tier’s at this time – one to simply to support my work and a second which features ad-free articles. Secondly you can tip me with a simple one off payment on my Ko-Fi page or you can choose to support my work monthly on the platform. I’d truly appreciate it if you decided to support my work, but no pressure, I know things are pretty tough out here. Anyway, back to the reason you came here – the news!

Back in December of 2022, MakingStarWars, an incredibly reliable outlet that’s shared accurate information on Star Wars productions for many years, revealed that they had heard of scenes filmed for the Ahsoka series that featured Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar were shot. Those scenes were reported to see the newly christened Darth Vader face-off against his apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, played by a younger actress (not Rosario Dawson) in an alternate reality scene taking place inside of the world between worlds. According to the report, part of the reason for showcasing this scene, and various other scenes in the world between worlds, was for Ahsoka to accept the past and to accept destiny. Nine months on from that report, MakingStarWars has now shared an update on those scenes, an update I am sure will disappoint many fans.

MakingStarWars took to his YouTube channel today to update his subscribers on what he’s heard regarding the fifth episode of Ahsoka, but the tidbit that’ll surely get people talking, is that the Mustafar scenes he reported on in December, have been left on the cutting room floor and will not feature in episode five of Ahsoka. MSW reiterated his belief that the scenes were shot and that his reporting at the time was not “just wrong”, but ultimately the sequence has been axed. You can read the MSW quote below.

The Mustafar sequence, I believe, has been cut. I say that like I’m not one hundred percent sure that it’s been cut, but I’m fairly certain it’s been cut because somebody that I know saw the whole thing was like, ‘Uh, that wasn’t in the version I saw.’ Unless they’re like holding it back. Another person who told me a bunch about the world between worlds content and what happens there, they said it wasn’t in that moment, and that’s where I was always told that moment would exist and that’s why I knew they were doing Anakin stuff. Hey, sometimes things get cut and sometimes I’m just wrong. But I don’t think I’m just wrong on this one and that it was cut.” – MakingStarWars via TheMakingStarWarsShow

The fifth episode of Ahsoka is set to be one of the highlights of the season, with Lucasfilm showcasing the episode in theatres on Tuesday evening, indicating the amount of confidence they have in the episode and that the episode deserved to be featured on the big screen. I was first to report that Anakin Skywalker would appear in the fifth episode of the season and recently added that I had heard fans would get to see Anakin Skywalker sporting his Clone Wars armour, scenes taking place on Ryloth, and that we’d even get glimpses at live-action versions of the siege of Mandalore and the battle of Teth, along with an appearance from the fan favourite character, Captain Rex. MakingStarWars on his YouTube show mentioned that he too heard of a Rex appearance, and that Rex would sport both his phase one and phase two armour, along with adding that they believe the siege of Mandalore scene is the last flashback to feature in the episode.

The fifth episode of Ahsoka is set to release exclusively on Disney+ this coming Tuesday at 6pm PT.
