Today an incredible piece from Vanity Fair focused issue on the upcoming slate of Star Wars projects released, and within the report it was confirmed that The Mandalorian spin-off, Ahsoka, will release in 2023, confirming rumours and expectations of fans.

Though the piece delves into multiple projects on the Star Wars schedule, Lucasfilm remain highly secretive and tight lipped pertaining to details of the projects, and Ahsoka is part of that so there’s not much to add outside of the confirmed release year from the piece. It’s mentioned Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka) posted an unconfirmed report to her Instagram last year of Hayden Christensen joining the cast of the series as Anakin Skywalker and got in trouble with the Lucasfilm who requested she remove the post, though they refuse to confirm the addition of Christensen’s Skywalker in the series.

Speaking on the upcoming series, creator Dave Filoni says, “Ahsoka is a continuous story, it is definitely driving toward a goal, in my mind, as opposed to being little singular adventures. That’s what I want the character to be doing, and I think that’s what fans want now. They have such a relationship with her. I’ve only recently started to understand that all those kids that watched Clone Wars are now a lot older—they’re very excited about all the things they grew up with, as they should be.

Filoni’s comments seem to hint at Ahsoka’s goal of finding her lost friend, Ezra Bridger, which was revealed in the series finale of Star Wars: Rebels and had a passing line in season two of The Mandalorian. Currently it’s unknown who’s set to play Bridger, or Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Ahsoka began filming just last week at Manhattan Beach Studios and will wrap sometime in November.
