Hello there! Before we continue with the article I kindly ask you to consider showing your support and appreciation for my work by tipping me via my Ko-Fi page here. Tips are quite rare around these parts, but I assure you no matter how big or small, each tip is deeply appreciated. Now, let’s get on with the news!

Earlier today Disney unveiled a promotional video showcasing various films and television series heading to Disney+ next year. The promotional video featured footage from The Mandalorian season three’s teaser trailer, footage from the recently released The Bad Batch season two trailer, as well as a very brief look at the Ahsoka series which saw Ahsoka Tano pulling her hood down unveiling the hero.

Noticeably absent was Skeleton Crew, a live-action TV series which was announced back in May during Star Wars Celebration. The series created by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Christopher Ford (Chaos Walking) follows a group of lost children travelling though the galaxy trying to find their way back home. The series stars Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) as the lead and we got the first look at the star during the D23 Expo.

I assumed the reason Skeleton Crew was absent from the Disney+ promotional video released earlier today was because what was shown was all releasing on the streaming service within the first seven months of 2023, and that Skeleton Crew was likely absent as it’s expected to release in the latter half of the year as two Marvel Studios series, Iron Heart and Echo, are due to be released in the second half of the year and they too were absent from the video, but Loki season two and Secret Invasion were present and slated to release within the first half of 2023.

However a TV spot version of the promotional video that debuted earlier today has appeared online. The spot is basically just a vastly shorter version of the video released earlier today and features much of the same footage, but with one exception – Skeleton Crew. There’s a blink and you miss it shot of the series lead, Jude Law, attempting to keep a low profile in a shady location, perhaps a Cantina, as he looks around and pulls up his hood.

I find it quite strange that this brief Skeleton Crew footage was omitted from the promotional video released earlier today. The video is designed to entice viewers to stay subscribed to the streamer, or to sign up if they haven’t done so before by showcasing the exciting content coming to the platform next year. The few seconds of Skeleton Crew only bolsters that message, and since footage was ready made and used in a TV spot version of the promotional video, it makes it even weirder to me that Skeleton Crew was not featured in the video released earlier today.

In additional Skeleton Crew news, MakingStarWars is reporting that Jude Law’s character (rumoured to be a teacher) and the group of children the series focuses on become guests at an opulent hotel which was described as being reminiscent of Canto Bight, features many aliens and was a large shooting location for the series. The tidbit that the crew visit a fancy hotel was something I’d heard myself from various sources in recent week, so I can corroborate this information. This news follows MSW’s report from last week which claimed Law and co are actually lost in a galaxy we’ve not seen before, or in a part of the galaxy we’re familiar with which has never been explored before in Star Wars canon with our crew coming face-to-face with pirates, possibly including Hondo Ohnaka.
