Star Wars Zero Company Devs Discuss Whether The Game Will Come To More Platforms

The developers behind Star Wars Zero Company have responded to questions on if the game will come to more platforms.

Since the game launched at the end of last month, there have been calls by fans to make a fully optimised version for the Steam Deck. In its current state, it runs very poorly on Valve’s handheld. It is absolutely not a way you want to be playing the game. The form factor does feel like a great fit for this title though.

Naturally others want the game on Nintendo Switch 2. Playing on the go with the games great controller system feels like a match made in heaven. We’ve seen just how successful and performant Star Wars Outlaws has been on the hybrid console so getting another modern Star Wars game on there would be a huge win for both fans and the developers.

Speaking at Gamescom with Gamereactor, the game’s creative director Greg Foertsch was asked about if they have plans to bring the game to more platforms in the future. Whilst Foertsch didn’t explicitly confirm the game is coming to more platforms, it isn’t completely ruled out. The acknowledges the calls for improved Steam Deck performance. You can read his full answer transcribed below:

“Right now, it’s not verified on Steam Deck but it is something we are very much aware of at the moment. We’ve been so focused on getting this out and making sure the quality on the other platforms. We’ll see. But right now we’ve just been focused on the three major ones that we’re dealing with at the moment. But you never know.”

We still aren’t any wiser on if the game has been commercially successful to bring back developers off furlough. It’s unfortunate that the communication has not been as transparent as we’d like. Given that we are dealing with people’s livelihoods it’s no surprise that they are keeping things private for now. Hopefully we do get an update on the studio and game in due time. Early data shows that the game has been a hit on PC but not so much on console.
