Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic Won’t Take 100’s Of Hours To Complete, Releasing Before 2030

We just learned more about Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic from the game’s director. How long it will take to complete and more were all discussed by Casey Hudson, the legendary director of the original Knights of the Old Republic game and now its spiritual successor.

This news comes just days after Arcanaut Studios, the developers of the game, updated their website homepage. It revealed the names of more staff members working on the game. Many of whom had also worked on KOTOR and the first Mass Effect at BioWare over two decades ago. The direction continued to be taken for this game will no doubt be exciting fans.

In a new interview with Bloomberg following the reveal of who is financing the game, KOTOR and Fate of the Old Republic director Casey Hudson revealed some very interesting insights into the game. This game might be shorter than some people were hoping for but will offer significant replay value. Hudson states that it will not take hundreds of hours to play because “bigger isn’t necessarily better”.

“If I’m excited about a game and then I find out that it’s 200 hours long — even if I have no ambition to actually finish it — I wonder, if I put 20 hours in, will I even be out of act one? A lot of players just want to play something and finish it.”

Despite it not taking hundreds of hours to complete, Hudson is confident fans of the game will want to replay it in different ways much like how KOTOR and Mass Effect has been enjoyed. Other storylines will be found through differing playthroughs he confirmed.

Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic Release Date Timeframe

As for when the game will come out, Hudson is still confident in his previous projection. Last year, the game director said on Twitter that it would be out by 2030. Many gamers scoffed at this timeline. He mentions that he’s never took more than 4 years to make a game and that the team don’t want to spend 5-7 years making a new one. How the team will achieve this is touched on here. And no, it is not generative AI.
