Star Wars Battlefront 3 is now in active development. That’s according to a new report about the future of EA.
On Wednesday, EA publicly revealed some shocking news. The legendary developers behind Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect, BioWare, would be closing. The Mass Effect 4 has also been cancelled.
Following this news, Variety published a report containing an internal memo by Cam Weber, president and chief studios officer, and David Tinson, president and COO. The duo said “Over the past several months, we’ve taken a hard look at our business, how we operate, and what it will take to lead in this next era of interactive entertainment.”
Additionally, they confirm both DICE and Respawn will be working together on an unannounced project. The execs did not name the game but multiple sources have told the outlet that it is indeed Star Wars Battlefront 3. This comes after a post from Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer who said this same thing earlier this week.
The full internal memo was published on EA’s website. You can read the relevant part below
“In our Shooters business, Battlefield 6 was a great success, and we learned a lot from the launch and the live service. We’re going to take those learnings, balance our resources, and leverage the technology to deliver a shooter portfolio that unlocks growth. In addition to our future Battlefield titles, we’ll be bringing together our Respawn and DICE studios to collaborate on a future project that will help us achieve that ambition. We can’t wait to share more when the time comes. We’re also continuing to invest heavily in Apex over the next few years by introducing brand new gameplay modes in multiplayer, and other new experiences, to expand the universe.”
So there you have it. Whilst Bungie were circling the project, DICE and Respawn are teaming up to deliver the most anticipated Star Wars game follow up. Fans have poured their hearts into campaigns to get the project greenlit. The Force is strong with them.
In other Battlefront news, we reported on this week, Battlefront 2 was the best selling Star Wars game last year.
