Ex-Battlefront developers have revealed that they would return to DICE and work on Star Wars Battlefront 3 if the opportunity presented itself.
‘I felt a great disturbance in the force’ or so, the previous Lead Creative Director of Star Wars Battlefront 2 at DICE Dennis Brannvall did as he re-posted a tweet saying so.
Star Wars Battlefront fans are no stranger to Brannvall, the former Creative Director, who was credited with one of gaming’s best turnarounds as DICE’s vision for Battlefront 2. Although no longer in the mix at DICE Stockholm, Brannvall has been active on Twitter due to the recent Star Wars Battlefront 3 rumours; both celebrating with fans and sharing his enthusiasm for the upcoming project:
“It’s very nice of you to think of me and the others” he responded to a fan asking him if there was any chance of the original DICE developers returning to work on the Battlefront series. “I’m sure some would consider coming back, especially since so many studios in Sweden have shut down or downsized lately.” Perhaps the biggest story from Brannvall’s recent activity came in a simple four worded response:
“I would love it”
This of course was in response to another fan who arguably made the best case for seeing the original Battlefront developers return; arguing that Brannvall and company gave the 2017 shooter its heart and soul after such a rough launch, and turning it into the now great game we all know and love.
There isn’t much to report in terms of who could be at the helm for this daunting project by DICE and Respawn, Dennis Brannvall is currently heading up his own small group of indie devs: Wayfinder Studios.
The team are currently working on Wyldheart, a co-op RPG fantasy game. Half of the studio is made up of DICE’s old Battlefront 2 team. Whether or not we do get to see the gang get back together at DICE, the community will always be thankful for their efforts on Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Furthermore, Battlefront 2’s live producer Mats Shelge said “a lot” of his old colleagues would want to work on a follow up to their game.
