More talk of Star Wars Battlefront 3 is starting to come out. A couple of reputable people have spoken on what they’ve heard about a follow up to the best-selling Star Wars games of all time.
In case you missed the news yesterday, a rumour appeared in the latest issue of EGM regarding a new battlefront game. This is something that Lucasfilm are reportedly pushing for and both DICE and Bungie are circling it; at least as of this past summer.
Following the release of this rumour, a couple of other notable people have shared what they had heard prior to this news.
Firstly, content creator Battlefront Updates shared on Twitter that “I’ll put this out there: I’ve heard the Battlefront rumors from a reliable source myself…real discussions are happening.” Then he doubled down in a new video saying:
“I have heard from my source [a couple of weeks ago]. I heard that there were talks. I heard that there were plans that after, well, I’m guessing DICE are probably working on a new Battlefield game obviously after Battlefield 6 and after that game there could be the potential of a new Battlefront game and I think this exactly strengthens this because to be clear this is very very early.
And from what I’ve also heard, whispers, rumors…the resurgence that happened last year, about one and a half years from now, that made some serious ripples. And that [player counts] made those ripples throughout EA, throughout Lucasfilm, the ripples that probably is the reason to why they’re having these discussions today.”
For those unaware, the YouTuber has had a close relationship with EA and DICE since well before the first Battlefront game came out. He is also considered extremely credible within the Battlefront community and would not risk his reputation on this.
Respawn To Help Out?

Where there is smoke, there is fire. In a surprising post on Twitter, Bulkhead CEO and the man in charge of hit game Wardogs Joe Brammer dropped an apparent bit of information.
According to what he has heard behind the scenes, both DICE and Respawn Entertainment are working on Battlefront 3. It is a bit strange that someone working on a competing video game would say this but Brammer has been known to talk about what’s going on behind the scenes of Battlefield (DICE’s main priority right now) in the past. People talk in this industry and that’s how word like this gets out. Of course, this is still purely a rumour.
This is the first time Respawn’s name has been be mentioned in the same sentence as Battlefront by someone that wouldn’t risk their reputation. This is a name that will no doubt excite fans. They are the studio that creates exceptional gunplay and phenomenal gameplay loops.
It’s not the same staff that founded the company and gave us Titanfall but they are continuing to legacy of those that came before including the late Vince Zampella. The Jedi team at Respawn are hard at work on the third and final instalment in Cal’s story.
It remains to be seen what happens with them once that game comes out. It was diabolical of EA to cancel Respawn’s Mandalorian game which was the first person shooter led by the producer of the original Star Wars Battlefront 2. It probably would have come out this year. Unfortunately, essentially all of the talent working on that game have since left Respawn due to layoffs.
In other Battlefront news, we reported on this week, Battlefront 2 was the best selling Star Wars game last year.
