Star Wars Galactic Racer is going to get more content and developers Fuse Games will be making sure the community’s requests are a priority.
In a new interview with The Games Business, Fuse Games co-founder and CEO Matt Webster was asked a bunch of questions and he revealed some very interesting insights into the game’s development. Additionally, he shared the team’s thinking towards future content and updates for the game.
Not The End Of The Race
When quizzed on what is next for Galactic Racer, Matt made it very clear there is absolutely no intention to give up on the game now it’s out of the door saying “We certainly don’t want this to be launch it and that’s it, we’re done.”
At the beginning of this year, Webster aired on the side of caution for expectations about post-launch content. Now with the game out and having seemingly being a huge success with some “phenomenal” pre-order numbers, the team can focus on creating more experiences.
Player First
Probably the most striking part of the CEO’s response about more content is how willing the studio is to listen to feedback from fans. Whilst Fuse Games have plenty of ideas according to Webster, the most important thing is that they take into account what players want.
Now it is in the hands of the community, Webster tells The Game Business “We need to see, we need to reflect, we need to watch, we need to hear, we need to listen, we need to participate together with players” before rushing to make DLC for example. What the fans say will “inform some of the ideas” Fuse already have but also “determine where we go next and when“.
When Will More Content Come?

As for when we will hear about the plans that Fuse Games have in place, we won’t have to wait too long. The CEO teases that announcements will be made within “weeks and months”. We already know that the party limit size will be doubling within weeks plus other top concerns are also being heard.
You can read the full quote from Matt below and it gives a reason as to why this is not a pure boxed game with no more updates. This quote has been transcribed and adjusted for clarity:
“We are going to learn more in the next 72 hours than we ever will have done throughout the development of this game. We’re going to get a few hundred thousand hours worth of play on Saturday (Oct 10th) I would imagine. And you ain’t never testing for that. So, there’s going to be things that you discover from a play and a profile that you haven’t seen before. So, it’s important for us to respond to that.
So, clearly, yes, we’ve got ideas of where this can go and what we want to do. We certainly don’t want this to be launch it and that’s it, we’re done, we’re off onto something else. Modern games and modern gamers expect there to be extensions and enhancements or something and we hope to be able to do things like that for this game.
But the true thing is we need to do that in concert with the community and we don’t have all the answers. So, we need to see, we need to reflect, we need to watch, we need to hear, we need to listen, we need to participate together with players and that will help inform some of the ideas that we’ve got and it will help determine where we go next and when. We’ve certainly got some, we’ve got some ideas and we’ve got plans in place and we’re going to be talking about them I would imagine in the coming weeks and months. But for the most part we’ve got to go and see how people are reacting and responding to what we’ve made.”
