Star Wars Galactic Racer has just released but Fuse Games are already listening to feedback and confirm a big improvement is coming.
Despite launching to review scores that only rival few such as the original KOTOR games, the biggest issue people have is the limited party size in multiplayer. Whilst the game supports 12 players in standard racing and 8 in podracing online, only 3 friends can party up and matchmake together. Furthermore, fans are pleading for private/custom lobbies. The good news is that Fuse Games have come out and confirmed an intention to deliver on player requests.
In a message shared within the game’s official Discord server, the development team address both requests by fans:
“Just wanted to jump in here since we’re seeing this come up a lot. Galactic Racer multiplayer brings up to 12 players together online, with up to 8 players in Podracing. We’re seeing the conversation around playing with friends, particularly party sizes and private/custom racing.
Good news! We’re already working on increasing the current 3-player limit to 6 players and are targeting an update within the first few weeks after launch. More details soon.
We’re also seeing the requests for private/custom racing. We don’t have anything to announce there today, but we’re listening and looking at how people want to play. Launch is really the beginning for us. We have ideas for how Galactic Racer can grow, but how the community actually plays – and what matters most to you – will help inform where we take it next.”
To get such a swift confirmation as the game launches is great to see. Hopefully this update does not take more than a few weeks. The sooner the better for the health of the game’s playerbase.
For a long lasting community, custom games also need to be introduced. We sincerely hope Fuse Games get this implemented. Star Wars Squadrons received custom games a few months after release allowing for tournaments and longevity amongst its niche audience. It also sounds like Fuse Games have more content planned for the game. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on any content drops and news for this game.
In other news, we exclusively revealed that the game is free to play on Amazon Luna from launch, plus the game is part of XBOX’s Disc-to-Digital program allowing for a digital license with each disc copy.
