A new Star Wars Zero Company patch has been released and it’s confusing some fans. We’ll be taking a look at what this hotfix does and more.
On Monday, Bit Reactor and EA Star Wars dropped the second post launch update for the game after being radio silent for the past few weeks. We got update 1.1. a couple weeks after launch but it has been almost 3 weeks since then and the communication has been non-existent. It does not help when most of the development team were furloughed.
The patch comes in at a 6.1GB download. This led to some fans on social media speculating what could be part of this juicy download. No patch notes were published for this PC-only update initially and for over an hour no one discovered anything different. Eventually, official patch notes were provided. These patch notes might be the shortest we’ve ever seen from a galaxy far, far away. Patch notes for this hotfix were shared by EA Star Wars on the Steam community hub and here they are:
- Fixed a crash issue for various hardware setups.
Yes, seriously. That’s everything included in this hotfix. It’s just not going to be a pleasant surprise to fans who have been waiting a few weeks for a patch or any communication for that matter and all they have received is this. This hotfix was being prepared at least over a week ago per SteamDB.
Why So Big?
Well, for starters the install size has not grown by 6.1GB. The files changed by the developers to fix these crashes amounts to over 6 gigabytes. In simple terms, that’s how video game files work. It might be a tad annoying for those with slower internet connections but it won’t eat up your storage.
Hopefully we’ll receive a more substantial patch in the coming weeks with communication on it in a more timely manner compared to this one.
