The next Star Wars trilogy, by Simon Kinberg, is still yet to find its director. That’s according to a reputable journalist in response to a rumour that fans have been spreading across social media.Â
Earlier this week, a Twitter user named @KnightGambit claimed that they were privy to information on the next Star Wars trilogy. According to them, a director had already been chosen for the next Star Wars trilogy. Whilst the next set of films is being written by Simon Kinberg, he apparently was not considered for the directorial role.
With the mystery director supposedly locked in, the film’s production is “picking up steam fast and could begin filming as early as next year.” Given this person’s previously unreliable reporting on Marvel films and lack of Star Wars credibility, we chose not to discuss on it at the time. Since then, a more credible reporter has shared their insight.
Since then, reliable Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider has put a swift end to these rumours for now. During last night’s episode of The Hot Mic, Sneider was asked directly if the rumours about Kinberg’s Star Wars trilogy finding its director is true. The reporter gave a simple and confident “no. There’s no Star Wars director.” He also disputed anyone is “sitting on” the information about it.
For some time now fans have been under the impression that the Simon Kinberg trilogy will be the next set of films coming after the next Star Wars Straighter. We’ll just have to wait and see if we get any substantial updates at Star Wars Celebration 2027.
