Star Wars The The Mandalorian and Grogu has got its first streaming numbers.

This year’s blockbuster Star Wars production came out and fizzled at box office back in May. This was the first time we saw a Star Wars TV show transition to the big screen and it did not deliver the money.

Last month saw the release on digital and physical media and the first week of this month had it drop on Disney+, the home of The Mandalorian. Now we have early data for how it’s doing on Disney’s home streaming service.

According to Nielsen via The Hollywood Reporter, the film was the second most streamed film during its first week. It earned 727 million minutes streamed. The data was collected from August 31st through September 6th. The Jon Favreau directed flick joined the service on September 2nd. It was also the 10th most streamed original movie/series coming in just behind Bluey.

It missed out first place to Netflix’s The Whisper Man which achieved 863 million minutes watched. Third place was May Day on Apple TV. It was quite a bit far behind Mando we’ve just 382 million.

The story isn’t complete from just the first week. More complete picture will come with the second week of ratings. Can this film hold on to high streaming numbers? We’ll find out very soon.

The Disney+ release comes with IMAX ratio scenes and sound. That’s the first for a Star Wars film. However it won’t materialise into a lot more viewers.

If you prefer to own media, consider ordering The Mandalorian and Grogu physically here. At the time of writing, the 4K Blu-ray & digital combo is 50% off already. (Note: Using this link to order the film will support this website by earning us a small commission. Thank you!)
