Brand new information on Ahsoka Season 2 has been revealed by Dave Filoni.
On Thursday, Empire Magazine released their November 2026 issue and it contains an Ahsoka Season 2 section featuring an interview with Lucasfilm co-CEO Dave Filoni. We picked up the latest issue from a store shelf and will share everything he had to say about the Mortis gods, Ahsoka and Ezra below.
Ezra And Thrawn
Whilst Filoni focused mostly on Ahsoka and Mortis, he did reveal that Ezra Bridger continues to keep warning The New Republic that Grand Admiral Thrawn’s army is different during Season 2. This is because “weird stuff” such as Magick and Mortis.
“Ezra keeps warning them, “This is not the Empire you knew. They’ve got some weird stuff going on!”.

Season 2 Feeling
Ahsoka Season 2 is going to delve deeper into more mystical sides of Star Wars than before but also have the classic Star Wars feeling as another half. Filioni said “It just felt like a good place to do some strange Jason And The Argonauts kind of adventuring“.
“Some of the audience is Scully, and some of the audience is Mulder [from The X-Files]. And I love that. You have to serve both. Some audiences can be, ‘That’s crazy, come on.’ And some are like, ‘Well… Maybe that’s true!’ Why do you so easily believe in a Force ghost? What’s the truth there? Fans will litigate that, and I think that’s the beauty of fandom.”

The creative said he “divided the story into two different galaxies to tell a story that was, one, very classic war-centric Star Wars-feeling and one that that’s the weird stuff that we haven’t seen.” Some of the “weird” stuff being the Mortis gods which have only been seen in animated shows before. Filoni tells us that it has been quite a “challenge” for him to bring the Mortis gods into live action and to a new audience.
The Mortis Gods’ Involvement
Ahsoka Tano will also be challenged in Season 2. Her creator reveals that we’ll see her confronted about her own feelings on the Mortis and beyond.
“It’s a challenge, I can tell you. It was so surprising when George created these archetype god characters. What were we examining there in Clone Wars? What was the metaphor? A lot of it is about power, and what you do with power, and how you wield power. For a Jedi, I think it’s a natural story path to get into these questions. What we’re dealing with is: are you going to believe in this, or not? And what is the danger if it’s real? And how are you going to prioritise your goals here? “What would a Jedi do, versus what would a regular person do? Those things come up through the course of the season.”
