Brand new details from Ahsoka Season 2‘s version of Dathomir have been revealed by Dave Filoni and the practical set made for the hellscape sounds fantastic.
On Thursday, Empire Magazine released their November 2026 issue and it contains an Ahsoka Season 2 section featuring an interview with Lucasfilm co-CEO Dave Filoni. We picked up the latest issue from a store shelf and have everything he had to say on Dathomir below.
Dathomir Details
As we know, Dathomir will be shown in live action for the very first time in Season 2. Fans of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order already got a great look at it. Thrawn and his undead legion are heading straight to the hell-like planet at the start of the season.
According to Dave, he likes “kind of fairy-tale, mythic-looking landscapes” and that’s what you’ll get with live action Dathomir. A comparison he gives is to Maleficent due to “her twisted thorn maze at the end of Sleeping Beauty“. Other examples he gave to get your imagination running was Dagobah and The Lord Of The Rings’ Fangorn Forest.
The Lucasfilm co-CEO reveals that working Dathomir in real life for live action was difficult as the production team recreated the environment incredibly well. Dave details that it was “a very tricky set, because you have these thorns everywhere. You want to wear safety goggles or something, because you’re getting attacked at every angle. Then you fill it with fog, which doubles your jeopardy! It’s a nasty place, Dathomir.“
