A brand new image and details from Ahsoka Season 2 have been released. Empire Magazine have published an exclusive look at Ahsoka wielding her white Lightsaber on Peridea alongside Dave Filoni confirming the Mortis gods involvement in the show.
We last saw Ahsoka (and Sabine) left on Peridea and there were large statues of the Mortis gods which were first seen in Star Wars The Clone Wars. This naturally meant fan theories about their live action debut in Season 2.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Lucasfilm co-CEO Dave Filoni confirmed that yes, the Mortis gods will be in Ahsoka Season 2 in some way. “It’s definitely a thing” is what Filoni said. He added that viewers won’t be required to watch the arc from The Clone Wars to understand the god’s in Ahsoka. Bringing these animation characters and lore was not easy the creative says but “a challenge.” What is going on with them? Well, Dave Filoni elaborated a little more.
“What we’re dealing with is: are you going to believe in this, or not? And what is the danger if it’s real? And how are you going to prioritise your goals here? What would a Jedi do, versus what would a regular person do? Those things come up through the course of the season.
It was so surprising when George [Lucas] created these archetype god characters. What were we examining there in Clone Wars? What was the metaphor? A lot of it is about power, and what you do with power, and how you wield power. For a Jedi, I think it’s a natural story path to get into these questions.”

It really sounds like we will finally learn quite a bit more about The Ones. This will be one of the most interesting parts of the second instalment in Ahsoka’s own show.
