Next week looks like it could be a good week for Star Wars fans. Lucasfilm have revealed their D23 event schedule which will contain news for upcoming Star Wars projects.
There has been a lot of speculation over what Lucasfilm will reveal at D23 this year. There was always an assumption we would get big Ahsoka Season 2 news such as a trailer even before it was delayed at D23. A teaser trailer for next year’s Star Wars Starfighter has also been a hot topic.
StarWars.com say that “creators and stars will take the stage at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event to delve into upcoming series and films across the Disney Studios including exciting news from Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise.”
Disney previously confirmed that the big entertainment showcase would take place on Friday, August 14th at 7pm to 9pm PT. If there is any Star Wars live action reveals, they would be shown here. Nothing has been confirmed so far. We typically get stills from upcoming live action projects and sometimes more. Footage of Andor and Skeleton Crew was shown at past events. Updates on production for projects are also shared. There has also been recent rumours of a Galaxy’s Edge expansion which could be announced at the Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday.
This will be the first D23 under two new sets of leadership. It will be Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan’s chance to get on stage to really ring in their reign. Josh D’Amaro will also be taking to the stage for the first time at D23 as The Walt Disney Company’s CEO. It’s probably best to keep expectations low, for now.
The confirmed list of panels taking place at D23 include one showing a sneak peek at Disney+’s LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian, the making of The Mandalorian and Grogu, The Making of Star Wars: The Experience and more. However, nothing specific such as an Ahsoka Season 2 panel. That said, props and costumes from the upcoming season will be on display for fans to take photos of which will give us some new looks at characters from the show.
