Lucasfilm has officially announced Star Wars: The Experience, a large museum exhibit that will be opening next year. This is one of the many events taking place to celebrate the franchise’s 50th anniversary.
A new article on StarWars.com reveals a lot of information about Star Wars: The Experience. The roaming exhibit will contain more than 70 objects from a galaxy far, far away. It is confirmed to be the largest Star Wars exhibit ever spanning 18,000 square feet and the entire Skywalker Saga.
It is said to be a “visually rich” and feature “interconnected galleries, featuring large immersive moments, screen-used artifacts, and an RFID-powered experience for an interactive, personalized, and cinematic journey”.
Where this differs from the Star Wars Identities tour is that most of these items have never been made available to be viewed by the public previously. These props are screen-used and a few of them have been confirmed so far. They include:
- Darth Maul’s Lightsaber hilt
- Darth Vader’s mask and armour
- Grogu
- R2-D2
- C-3PO
- Speeder Bike
And various Andor props, fan-favorite aliens, droids, and creatures and much, much more. They even tease fan art and gaming will be part of the exhibition.
Star Wars: The Experience will open on February 13th 2027, just 2 days before the 50th anniversary re-release of Star Wars (1977) comes to theatres. The exhibit will be first attendable at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until September 6th 2027. From there, it will visit cities all across North America over the course of 5 years. It will not be going overseas.
More details about this exhibit will be shown off at San Diego Comic-Con this month. On top of that attendees will be able to see exclusive exhibit renderings and more. Ahsoka herself Ashley Eckstein will lead a panel about the exhibit, “The Making of Star Wars: The Experience”, on Friday July 24th 2026 at 4PM PT.
