Star Wars Battlefront 2 Was One Of The Most Downloaded PlayStation Games Last Month And Here’s Why

Star Wars Battlefront 2 was one of the most downloaded PS4 games last month despite no new content updates in over 6 years.

New charts published by PlayStation has revealed that players are still continuing to download Star Wars Battlefront 2 for the first time or re-experience the game they know and love. Whilst Star Wars might not be thriving in the theatrical sense, it is in the video game space.

On Friday, PlayStation released their monthly game charts for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P game downloads for all of June.

According to PlayStation, Star Wars Battlefront II was the 4th most downloaded PS4 title in the USA and Canada. This was down from 1st position in May but still above what it achieved in April. Much like last year Red Dead Redemption 2 has retaken the top spot. As for the European charts, the game was the 9th most downloaded PS4 title which is a decline from 2nd. Again, this is higher than the April position though.

As we have stated before, it is important to remember that the PS4 download charts contain downloads made to both PS4 and PS5 consoles. There is no native PS5 version of Battlefront 2 so all downloads are classed in the PS4 charts.

As for other Star Wars games, Star Wars Jedi Survivor was the 20th most downloaded PS5 title last month for Europe; down from 18th. The game earned 18th position in May for the US/Canada chart.

Even though June downloads dipped lower than May, the May 4th hype followed by The Mandalorian and Grogu’s release still has given legs to games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Jedi Survivor. Plus, the community-led Resurgence event continues across social media and the game servers.

In other Battlefront news, the biggest update for Kyber is coming to the game very soon. Learn more about it all here.
