Star Wars Battlefront 2 is still achieving over 100,000 concurrent players. This is most impressive for a game that has not received content updates in over 6 years.
The beloved Star Wars game from DICE is currently experiencing its second resurgence event. This is a community-led initiative to boost player counts and prove to Lucasfilm Games, EA other game companies why they should make a follow up to the best selling Star Wars games of all time.
Saturday saw the official Resurgence Day take place although the movement begun at the start of the month. Is aiming to last through the summer just as it did last year.
According to the team behind the Kyber platform, yesterday was a roaring success in terms of players jumping online. The community-created launcher had well over a 1000 concurrent players across nearly 200 servers. This is extremely small percentage of the entire concurrent PC player base at the time. It is only a fraction of who is playing Battlefront on all a platforms.
In a post made on the Kyber Twitter account, they confirmed that the game had peaked at over 122,000 concurrent players earlier in May. That was even before Resurgence Day. This is verifiable data that we can trust much like last year. The peak daily concurrent player counts are tracking ahead of this time last year.
The Kyber team are also hosting special game modes on their hosted servers. This weekend will see Expanded Galactic Assault & Supremacy (additional heroes & reinforcements on maps) plus CQC Special Ops (Infantry-only squad combat in Strike and Extraction). On top of that, Blaster Master which is a free-for-all mode featuring random weapons on spawning is live from Monday through Wednesday.
Addressing Player Count Concerns
The only public facing player counts for this game (and most games) is the amount of people playing on Steam. For some reason, some gamers and journalists only want to report the Steam charts and ignore the fact that this is the smallest player base for Battlefront 2 by some margin. Just because one launcher has a small player count doesn’t mean hundreds of thousands of people are not on console.
Both DICE Battlefront games had only a fraction of the total player base on PC during their peak. This is a well-known fact within the game’s community with data from developers.
Another key point to make is Battlefront 2 did not come to Steam until years after the game came out and was at the end of its live service life cycle. This means the majority of people that were playing the game at its peak were exclusively on the EA app. The Steam chart numbers do not count those players just those that are launching through Valve’s platform.
Furthermore, the game was also given a way for free on the Epic Games Store in 2021; almost a year after the final content update. Over 19 million people claim to the game for free. This further bolstered the amount of people that would be playing the game on PC without Steam.
Again, we will make it clear that the Steam player count numbers do not take into account EA app, Epic Games Store or console players. This is in spite of EA, Steam and Epic players all using the same servers. They’re just on different launchers.
Where Things Stand Right Now

We do have to be honest and acknowledge that the console and PC split in 2026 is nowhere near as gigantic as 2020. This is due to a number of factors.
For example, lots of gamers in general have switched from console to PC. Battlefront players who have been left longing for more content have moved to PC to experience mods and Kyber. Also, the game is regularly discounted on PC to around $3. With that said, new players are still checking out the game across PC and console. New recruits join everyday. That is a testament of the game DICE created.
As for what’s next for Battlefront, fans can expect and update with highly requested features coming to Kyber next month. Stay tuned for what’s coming to Battlefront in the very near future.
