A new Easter egg has been discovered in Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) after more than 20 years.
It’s quite incredible that despite being played by millions of people and having been heavily modded over the past two decades, brand new content is being found. This is a testament to the dedicated Battlefront community.
The Easter egg we’ll be looking in this article is ability to play play as a Wampa. It was found by modder S1thK3nny who decompiled the game. It was then shared in a video by iamashaymin who is also behind the recently released Star Wars First Assault playable multiplayer. The former is currently working on quite an expansive mod which will elevate modding capabilities of the game.
Whilst you are now able to play as a Wampa, it does come with some caveats. This Easter egg only works on any PC version of the game. That includes the original disc copy, Steam, GoG and even the absolutely butchered Classic Collection. It does not work on any console version. The Easter egg also won’t work online but does become an option in singleplayer or split screen. Also, you can’t play on Hoth. It is limited to the forest moon of Endor.
How To Play As Wampa In Star Wars Battlefront 2
If you want to play as a Wampa, simply follow these steps:
- Start the game and create a new profile named “wampa”. Case sensitive.
- Go into the instant action menu.
- Select Endor as the map and Hunt as the game mode.
- Launch the match.
- Select Empire as your team.
- Select Wampa from the class selection screen. You’ll see it’s next to the Scout Trooper.
And that’s it. You can now play as a Wampa on Endor. The only weapon you have is your claw to take down Ewoks. This is the standard attack and using the Lightsaber block button allows for a more powerful hit. You can also run and jump similar to a Jedi. Additional note: setting the AI player count to 32 will allow some bots to spawn as the Wampa.Â
It will be interesting to see what else comes out of the great effort to decompile the game and evolve what’s possible with the game. Hopefully there are more Easter eggs too be found.
