An RPG Star Wars video game featuring Mandalorian and Jedi was cancelled before the public knew about its existence. Videos showing gameplay and images providing a feel of the game’s atmosphere have leaked online.
A new report from mp1st has given us a look at a multiplayer game that never made it to the finish line. One developer who worked on the game has published their work onto a portfolio giving us our first glimpse of the game.
According to the outlet, this action RPG codenamed “Magellan” was in development at Torchlight III studio Echtra Games. The team were creating the game inside of Unreal Engine 5 and was planning to release it on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Zynga closed Echtra Games last summer after 4 years of ownership. The game was first mentioned in the acquisition press release though not as a Star Wars game.
Despite being created by a Zynga-owned studio and in collaboration with Star Wars Hunters developers NaturalMotion, this game is seemingly different from the one previously leaked last year.
Gameplay
As mentioned above, an artist who worked on the game has uploaded videos of their work. The clips show actual gameplay of the 3rd person multiplayer title in action. It does have some resemblance to Star Wars Hunters. Jedi and Mandalorian gameplay is provided confirming there were at least two classes to choose from. The enemies are Imperial Stormtroopers so that gives us an idea of when the game was set.
Animation rigs are shown for a number of characters. This includes the Stormtroopers, sword wielding-Mandalorian, a Bounty Hunter, various creatures such as Gundarks and Anoobas, droids, an Ugnaught and more.

It is also reported that the game had a “NPC Bond system.” The name suggests players would be able to interact and “bond” with various NPCs despite it being multiplayer.
Even though we never heard about this game until now, it is still sad to see so much work go to waste. Take-Two and Zynga shutting down Star Wars Hunters still hurts its core player base even a year on. This news will only add to that knowing something similar was brewing.
