Each time we hear something new about Star Wars Galactic Racer, excitement grows.
We are still a few months away from Fuse Games’ debut title racing into our hands but the team are continuing to drop pieces of info here and there. Today, we get DLC teasers and more podracing goodness.
Last month, journalists and content creators got chance to play the game for a few hours and the previews were overwhelming positive. We wrote about it here. During that same preview event, interviews were conducted by publications with some of the leaders working on the game. A new interview between Fuse Games CEO Matt Webster plus Lucasfilm Games Executive Producer Craig Derrick and Shacknews has been released.
The host for Shacknews asked Webster if there would be pilot DLC, possibly Ewok pilots post launch. The CEO confirmed that “yes, there will be things to come post launch.” This is actually a little bit of a shift in what he said before several months ago. He previously only suggested that they might have an opportunity to do more post launch but now we have confirmation. It was also confirmed there would be no season pass.
New Podracing And Story Mode Info
Also found in the interview is a few extra tidbits relating to the single player campaign. For example, creator of the Galactic League, Darius Pax is actually a former pod racer mechanic. That gives us a little bit of a background of him. Plus, podracing is confirmed for the single player campaign. Whilst some creators did say podracing is in the game’s story mode, fans were still adamant podracing would be locked to the non-story modes.
Lucasfilm Games producer Craig Derrick had this to say:
“The most significant challenge we had to overcome was how do we incorporate podracing into this story when not everyone in the galaxy can control a podracer. We’re not spoiling our story but we’ve found a really great way to incorporate podracing into our main story. We’re not going to betray anything that came before. Episode I is about Anakin Skywalker winning a podrace. We don’t want any human character coming in and winning podraces.”
