The highly popular Galactic Contention mod for Squad is making a grand return this month. It is set to be a spectacle that no Star Wars gamer should miss.
After several months of development, this Star Wars mod upgrades what fans loved before and expands the large scale Clone Wars battlefields with fresh experiences and new features. The Galactic Contention development team published the announcement via the game’s Discord server on Thursday. Fans were sent into a frenzy after the mod has been unplayable for many months due to this upgrade.
Galactic Contention version 9.0 running on Unreal Engine 5 will launch on Friday July 31st. No time has been given yet. The development team say “more information to come along the way” ahead of its release in the form of a video. It will contain an in-depth look at the new changes, maps, patch notes, a conversation with developers. A trailer was also released showcasing the game running on the latest engine version. There has been a lot of praise for the trailer by the mod playerbase on social media.

For those unaware, Galactic Contention is a free and complete overhaul of the military simulator game Squad. The previous version of the mod came in at around 45GB which is about how big Squad is on its own. The mod contained over 20 maps, 150 units, dozens of factions, vehicles and more. It is multiplayer only supporting large playercounts.
